Ireland seizes 3,7 tonnes of Romanian meat

3.7 tonnes of products of meat originated in Romania have been confiscated by Ireland's Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine in an ongoing operation to target illegal imports. The goods were found in a foreign vehicle arrived in the port of Dublin along with 960 litres of alcohol and more than 500 packs of cigarettes.
The meat products did not follow EU food safety rules and had the potential to impact public and animal health, according to Irish authorities. Since the beginning of last week, Irish border controls have seized different illegal goods smuggled in the country in trucks arriving from Poland, Lithuania and France.
