JBS to invest US$70 million in chicken production in Paraguay

The company's investment in the country will be made in phases. The first phase began with the acquisition of Pollos Amanecer, a local chicken brand that operates a factory in the Doctor Juan Eulogio Estigarribia district, also known as Campo 9, in the department of Caaguazú.

Regarding the investment in Paraguay, Wesley Batista, a shareholder and member of the JBS Board of Directors,  highlighted the opportunities in the neighboring country. "We found highly competitive grain conditions, skilled labor, and available resources", he stated.

Located in one of Paraguay's largest agricultural regions, the plant has easy access to crops and is within a 200-kilometer radius of the country's three largest cities: the capital Asunción, Ciudad del Leste (on the border with Brazil and Argentina), and Luque. The factory was acquired from Campo 9 SA, which operates locally under the Pollos Amanecer brand, recognized for its quality.

After expansion and modernization, the plant will reach a processing capacity of 100,000 birds per day, aiming to continue serving the domestic market and expand its reach abroad. At full capacity, the factory will employ approximately 1,100 people (including manufacturing and administrative staff). The production complex will include 28 farms for genetic material, hatcheries, and a feed mill.

"Paraguay offers excellent conditions for the development of the poultry industry, and this investment reinforces our strategy of increasing the company's competitiveness and diversification. We are confident that this operation will be a growth engine for the country, generating jobs, income, and high-quality products for the global market, accelerating Paraguay's presence in the global chicken market", said Gilberto Tomazoni , the company's Global CEO. "We aim to be great and be part of the community. The country is welcoming us with open arms, and we want to be Paraguayans in Paraguay",  he added .

Seara's expansion plan will include substantial investment from integrated chicken producers in the region, known for the presence of Mennonite immigrants from Canada, who settled there starting in the 1950s. Currently, the factory operates with chickens produced in 19 poultry houses. The plan is to reach 139 when the factory's expansion cycle is complete.
