Japan approved Argentine's foot-and-mouth disease risk assessment

In a historic step, the Ministry of Agriculture reported that the Animal Health Council of the Japanese MAFF, at its 77th meeting, approved the risk analysis regarding foot-and-mouth disease presented by Argentine.

After 20 years of negotiations, the decision becomes a milestone and brings Argentine beef from the northern zone (that from the foot-and-mouth disease-free zone without vaccination has been approved since 2018) closer to Japanese market.

Japan is one of the world's leading importers, third after China and the United States, with half a million tons per year and with one of the highest average prices.
