Kalle increases prices for sausage casings

Kalle, one of the leading suppliers of industrially produced sausage casings, said that as of May 2016 there was a continuing and significant cost pressure on the polymer market. The company decided to increase the casings price after it had tried for several months to avoid the price increase by internal cost reduction measures. Kalle took this decision in order to maintain its high-quality standards.

Last year, the German based company launched a new product, NaloFerm, a vapor-permeable polymer casing. NaloFerm, according to the company's press release, is a viable alternative to natural or collagen casings.

Kalle is a strong brand in the U.S. as well as in Western and Eastern Europe and is currently strengthening its presence in emerging economies. The company has nearly 1,800 employees.
