Kazakhstan receives ASF-free status

Total.kz reports that Kazakhstan has been included on the list of countries that have received the status of free from ASF.

“This status will allow us to realize the export potential of our agro-industrial complex and will have a positive impact on the economic development and image of Kazakhstan,” the website of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan said.

The Ministry of Agriculture believes that obtaining this status provides an opportunity to increase exports of both live pigs and pig products. Pork is in demand in the markets of Russia and China.

Meanwhile, the Kazakh Union of Pig Farmers announced at the beginning of February that it intends to revive the pork production in the country and hopes to open the Russian and Chinese market for their exports.

A recent development programme adopted by the Union plans to establish pork export of around 100,000 tonnes per year by 2025.
