"42,000 weaned piglets will be moved to one of our feeding units and later slaughtered", explained Ioan Antoci, executive manager of Suinprod Roman, the swine production subsidiary of Kosarom.
The new unit is just one project that is meant to increase the production capacity of the company to 252,000 pig head until 2022. "We have another project, on blueprint stage, that is based on an integrated system. I hope we can start the construction somewhere in 2019. It's a project that comprises 4,000 sows and a production capacity of more than 110.000 heads so we can reach a total capacity of 252,000 pig heads in 2021", declared Neculai Apostol, founder of Kosarom. Total investment in those two projects will be at €28 million and can reduce the need for meat imports assuring a total traceability of the products. Kosarom Group includes Kosarom SA, Suinprod SA and Avi-Top SA, all of those being part of an integrated system.
