La Almenara farm received the Special Porc d'Or Award

For Alberto Herranz, director of INTERPORC, "it is a source of pride that this prestigious award goes to one of the farms certified with our animal welfare seal."

In addition, he added that the award given to La Almenara "demonstrates that whoever passes the audits and obtains the 'Certified Welfare Commitment' seal works with the highest standards of animal welfare by following the guidelines of its technical regulation, IAWS (INTERPORC Animal Welfare Spain), the most guaranteed and advanced in the world”.

The IAWS technical regulation has been prepared by a scientific committee of animal welfare experts following the guidelines of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE). Its compliance is verified by external certification entities accredited by ENAC, outside the sector and of recognized prestige.

It imposes a high level of demand on parameters such as traceability, biosafety, health and animal health, food safety and animal housing. An effort that, moreover, is voluntary since its requirements go beyond what is required by law.

A commitment to quality that conditions all phases of production, as has been reflected in this edition of the Porc d'Or, since the other two special prizes have also been awarded to farms endorsed with 'Certified Welfare Commitment'.
