Meat consumption falls in Turkey
Year to year, poultry meat is declining in Turkey. According to the latest statistical data released by Turkstat, hen egg production decreased by 0.5%, chicken meat production decreased by 1.4%, the number of the slaughtered chicken decreased by 3.1% and turkey meat production decreased by 21.7% in December compared with the same month of the previous year. Chicken meat production decreased by 0.1%, the number of the slaughtered chicken decreased by 0.5%, hen egg production decreased by 0.6% and turkey meat production decreased by 2.4% in the January-December period compared with the same period of the previous year.
Compared with December 2019, the month analyzed has presented a decrease of 1.4% in chicken meat output (181.725 tonnes), turkey 21.7% (4.670 tonnes) and eggs 0.5% (1.7 billion units).
