Mexico received a batch of 93 tons of pork from Spain

The country is importing pork products from Spain as part of its policy of diversification in import markets.

Mexico has already imported 25.5 tons of pork belly from Germany.

The Mexican ministry explained that the phytozoosanitary inspection officers of the National Service of Health, Safety and Agri-Food Quality (SENASICA) are verifing the sanitary condition of this current shipment of pork from Spain.

The authorities announced also that in the next 2 months, Mexico will send another 110 containers with nearly 2,600 tons of pork that will pass through the same inspection protocols.

Furthermore, the Mexican authorities say that so far there are 12 local companies that have begun efforts to import pork from countries from the European Union, such as Germany, Denmark and Spain.

Mexico has established sanitary protocols with a series of other countries that comply with the sanitary requirements imposed by SENASICA for the import of pork, countries such as Germany, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Chile, Denmark, Spain, France, Italy and New Zealand.

Mexico's annual consumption of pork reaches 2.11 million tons, while the national production is 1.45 million tons, of which, 105 thousand tons are exported and the country imports and average of 754 thousand tons each year.
