More than 90% of the Spaniards are meat eaters
Meat is a dietary option for more than 90% of the Spaniards, with 75% of the people declaring themselves omnivores and almost 16% declares itself flexitarian, that is, it also consumes meat, but more occasionally. according to the most recent Ipsos Global Advisor report.
The survey confirms the Report of Alimentary Consumption in Spain, in which the per capita consumption is placed in 50 g a day of meat and 35 g a day of meat products, which is even below the intake recommendations from nutrition specialists and international health agencies.
The consumption of meat is adequate in all stages of life for its content in proteins, vitamins of group B (B1, B3, B6 and B12) and minerals such as iron, potassium, phosphorus and zinc.
Thus, a varied and balanced diet with an adequate contribution of all food groups such as meats, fruits and vegetables, whole grains, milk, eggs and fish, among others, allows meeting the daily requirements of macro and micronutrients.
