The Chief Veterinary Officer of Poland has reported another five outbreaks of African Swine Fever (ASF) in domestic pig herds, with a number of 2,983 pigs affected.

New ASF outbreaks reported in Poland

The greatest damage was reported at pig producers from two Polish regions, according to Kvedomosti.ru.

In the Lubelskie Voivodeship, outbreaks were reported in two farms, totaling 1,837 animals. In the Warmian-Mazury, three farms were affected, with a total of 1,146 pigs.

The number of outbreaks, thus, reached 180, of which 76 were registered in the current year.

Outbreaks of the virus were also observed in the herds of wild pigs last week. In total, there were 40 of them. As a result, 2,601 centers have been identified in Poland at the moment, of which 1,713 were reported this year.

Almost half of the outbreaks among domestic pigs and more than 65% of wild boar outbreaks were recorded in the first half of 2018.
