Norway Fish&Seafood industry is prospecting in a UK post-Brexit
The Nordic organization is hosting the annual meeting in London on January 24, this year focusing on the post-Brexit market for seafood in the UK. "This year we will focus on consumer trends and discuss how the seafood industry can take a leading role in developing attractive meals for the future. And of course, we will look at Brexit. It is no longer a discussion on whether Brexit is coming or not, but how the industry must prepare for possible outcomes if there is an agreement or not", mentioned Hans Frode Kielland Asmyhr, UK Director of Norwegian Seafood Council.
The agenda is focused on reaching a new generation of consumers for seafood industry products, preparations for Brexit and new trends in the UK restaurant market.
Last year, Norway's fishing companies have faced a reduction in exports of frozen white fish to the United Kingdom of 5,796 tonnes, or 18%, due to a decline in both frozen whole haddock and cod. There was a small increase in frozen fillets export, though.
