Ontario is investing $4.3 million in a turkey plant

Sofina Foods, one of the largest meat processors from Ontario, will receive an investment of 5.3 million Canadian dollars (4.3 million dollars) from the provincial government to start construction on a new turkey processing plant, according to the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs.

The new facility is expected to create 100 new jobs and retain approximatively 60 positions in the communities of Mitchell and Dublin.

The providence is funding its investment through the Prosperity Fund – Food and Beverage Growth Fund.

Sofina Foods Inc. is one of the largest meat processors in Ontario, employing over 2,400 people in 11 facilities across the province. Sofina Foods sells private label and branded products under labels such as Lilydale, Janes, San Daniele and Mastro.
