Singapore has positioned itself as a hub for the purchase and consumption of top-quality products and also as a distribution center for all the countries within its sphere of influence in Southeast Asia. This makes it a priority target for suppliers of premium meat products, such as Spain.

To strengthen the image of Spanish beef in Southeast Asia, PROVACUNO has designed a series of actions, co-financed by the European Union under the program “It’s Time for EU Beef – Beef from Spain”, which include participation in a trade fair and an informative meeting aimed at prescribers, importers and agents of the Horeca channel that was held on April 20 at the Alkaff Mansion in Singapore.

The meeting with Singaporean trade agents was attended by the Spanish Ambassador to Singapore, Álvaro de la Riva, and the Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Spanish Embassy in Singapore, Antonio García Rebollar, who welcomed the attendees. Following this, the qualities of Spanish beef were presented, emphasizing its characteristic quality, flavor, tenderness, and juiciness. Finally, a tasting of recipes featuring Spanish beef was offered by renowned chefs Iván Cerdeño (two Michelin stars at the Iván Cerdeño Restaurant in Toledo) and Rocío Parra (one Michelin star at the La Parra Restaurant in Salamanca), delighting the attendees and allowing them to experience firsthand the premium nature of Spanish beef.

The F&H Asia trade fair brings together all the commercial agents from Singapore and Southeast Asian countries, having become the main agri-food trade fair held in this part of Asia.

Singapore, which opened its borders to Spanish beef in 2018, has maintained a highly fluctuating trade relationship since then, occasionally exceeding 80 tons annually. Currently, twenty Spanish operators are authorized by the Singaporean government to export our products, and we are hoping that trade between the two countries will increase.

In the words of Gema Moguer, responsible for the activity developed by PROVACUNO in Singapore, “based on the impression of the attendees, the regard for our beef in Singapore is unbeatable and the impression during the tastings has been excellent, which suggests that the commercial relationship can be boosted towards a country that sets trends in its environment.”
