Pakistan's fish and seafood exports surge

Pakistan's fish and seafood exports increased by 19.63% in the first two months of this financial year compared to the same period in 2016, the local newspaper The Nation reported.

Pakistan's fish and seafood exports surge

 

During July and August 2017, fish and seafood exports reached 13,648 metric tons worth about 35.273 million dollars. In the same period of last year, the exports reached 10,107 metric tons worth 29.488 million dollars, according to the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.

Furthermore, fish and seafood exports increased by 24.13% in August 2017 compared to the same month in 2016. In the last month, there were 8,827 metric tons of fish and fish products exported, in value worth 22.800 million dollars. In the same month of 2016, the exports reached 6,410 metric tons worth 18 million dollars.

During the Fiscal Year 2015-2016, Pakistan exported fish and seafood worth 325 million dollars. In the first half of the fiscal year 2016-2017, fish exports and preparations increased by 10% compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year, reaching a sum of 183.5 million dollars. Pakistani fish and seafood exports growth are recovering after falling for the last two years.
