Paraguay expands meat product exports to Argentine and adds hamburgers

The National Service for Animal Health and Quality (Senacsa) announced the expansion of the variety of Paraguayan meat products authorized for export to the Argentine market, within the framework of efforts to strengthen the presence of national beef in destinations with approved sanitary access.

Paraguay expands meat product exports to Argentine and adds hamburgers

According to the official statement from Senacsa, the measure was implemented following notification from the National Agri-Food Health and Quality Service (Senasa) of Argentine, which authorized the addition of new products to the export list from Paraguay. These include hamburgers, as well as other meat products such as meatballs.

The authorization specifically applies to the Concepción N° 38 and Guaraní N° 321 meatpacking plants, which can now begin shipping these products to the Argentine market.

The president of Senacsa, José Carlos Martin, explained that both plants are currently authorized by the Argentine National Food Safety and Quality Service (Senasa) to make these shipments. “Frigorífico Concepción and Frigorífico Guaraní are the ones that will be exporting; they are the ones authorized by Senasa Argentine,” he specified.

Regarding export volumes, he indicated that a concrete estimate is not yet available, although he emphasized that there is already significant demand. “Volumes are not yet being discussed, but there is strong demand for hamburgers, which have greatly improved in quality,” he stated.

Martin noted that this progress is the result of a process that took nearly two years of negotiations and sanitary adjustments. He also highlighted the positive impact of prior approval from the US market and the support of international companies. “Our hamburger improved significantly after receiving approval in the United States and thanks to the support of companies like McDonald's and Burger King, which use products shipped from Paraguay to all of Latin America,” he explained.

The head of Senacsa also mentioned that Argentine joins other regional markets that already import these types of products. “Now we have Argentine, and we already have Chile and Uruguay for hamburgers and prepared meat products, such as meatballs,” he stated.

Senacsa emphasized that this expansion is part of a strategy aimed at diversifying the exportable supply and consolidating the presence of Paraguayan meat in regional markets, taking advantage of the sanitary and quality standards achieved by the country.

The announcement represents a new step forward in the agenda of opening and consolidating markets for the national meat sector.
