Pilmico plans to build its second meat plant in Philippines
Pilmico's president Sabin Aboitiz announced that the company's PHP9 billion (USD173.2 million) strategy also implies a feeds and grains processing expansion, as reported by manilastandard.net.
Mr. Aboitiz announced that construction at the site could start within six to eight months after the company receives a permit to convert its recently acquired land from agriculture to industrial use.
According to mainlastandard.net, the company expects the Tarlac plant to have a capacity of processing of 120 pig heads per hour. The Tarlac plant would be the company's second meat fabrication unit after it opened its first in Buatan City.
The company plans to sell its meat through its online transaction platform and it will acquire its live animals from Aboitiz farms. Pilmico will also encourage smaller holder farmers to sell their livestock to the company.
