Poland maintains its position as the largest poultry producer in the EU
Although it obtained a moderate growth, Poland will remain the largest poultry producer in the European Union.
According to the USDA report, the production in 2017 will grow by 8% compared to the previous year, reaching 2.8 million metric tons. This level is due to the increase in domestic demand, poultry meat being considered healthier and less expensive compared to beef.
The consumption of poultry meat in Poland will reach 30 kilograms per capita at the end of 2017, a 3% increase compared to 2016, according to the estimates made by USDA experts.
Poultry meat accounts for 38% of the meat consumed in Poland, compared with 53% for pork and only 3% for beef.
