Polish poultry exports are directed mainly to Western Europe

Official data released by Poland's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development shows that poultry exports have increased in the first quarter of the year by 12.5% compared to the same period of 2017.
"This is a better result than in the whole 2017 when according to Eurostat data, exports of poultry from Poland increased by 8%", Lukasz Czech, an analyst of agricultural markets BG? BNP Paribas, told Portal Spozywczy magazine.
Poultry exports have increased to all existing major trading partners except France, Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania. Exports to these countries decreased by around 9% as part of a long-term trend in which growing consumption of poultry in Western European countries is met by production in Central and Eastern Europe, explained Czech in an analysis presented by the bank.
However, key trade partners have increased the demand for Polish poultry products as follows: Germany (by 21%), Great Britain (by 18%), the Netherlands (by 11%), Spain (by 22%) and Belgium (by 16%). Poland is the largest poultry producer in EU and the latest USDA forecast is mentioning a production that will surpass 2 million tons in 2018, covering almost 20% of the EU-28 consumption. UK (14%) and Spain (11%) are ranked as second and third largest producers of poultry in Europe.
