Portugal is the European champion in poultry consumption
A look at other EU countries shows that France is in the top group with almost 29 kilograms per capita. Scandinavian countries such as Finland with almost 27 kg per capita consumption and Denmark with 24 kg each are even ahead of Germany.
In Germany, consumption of poultry meat has grown by a full 25 percent since 2000, but we are still only in the middle of the EU comparison at just under 20 kg. So there is still a lot of room for improvement for the German poultry industry.
Switzerland is at the bottom of the list with 19 kg of poultry meat consumption per capita in 2023.
