Promoting Tuscan Pecorino and Finocchiona in Europe

Pecorino Toscano Dop and Finocchiona PGI is the all-Tuscan combination that has in mind to impress the European consumers. To achieve the objective, the two Consortium have decided to develop synergies with promotion and tasting activities in the main European markets and in Italy. To this end, the Consortium present a calendar of activities for the next few months that will see them engaged in Europe to raise awareness about the quality of certification, which is essential to avoid the so-called "Italian sounding products". The ultimate goal is to guarantee and protect the respect for tradition and encourage consumers to discover PDO and PGI with new consumption proposals.

Promoting Tuscan Pecorino and Finocchiona in Europe

The tour starts in France on 10 and 11 September 2022, in Paris where will be tastings that will start at Eataly Paris Marais with finocchiona PGI and Tuscan pecorino Dop on display on the presentation and tasting counters where visitors can taste the products both individually and in combination.

After few days the guided tastings of finocchiona PGI arrive in Italy, at Eataly in Turin (01 and 02 October 2022) and Rome (29 and 30 October 2022) with presentation and tasting counters. It continues in autumn at the event "The Italian Show" organized by Ilif, I love italian food, in Düsseldorf on November 7, 2022: each Consortium will have its own dedicated space for display and presentation within the event dedicated to the sector hospitality and catering in which there are also two distinct tasting masterclasses at different times of the day.

On 21 November 2022 in Munich the two ambassadors of Tuscany are expected to have two historical, technical and production insights with a final tasting: entirely dedicated to operators in the horeca sector, journalists and food bloggers, the session will allow all to learn about the Tuscan Dop and PGI.

“Collaboration with other protection Consortium is a constant in the history of Pecorino Toscano - explains the president of the Tuscan Pecorino DOP Consortium Carlo Santarelli -. With the Consortium Finocchiona PGI it is particularly easy, both because the two products blend very well with each other, and because we have a harmony of views that foreshadow a lasting collaboration. We want to continue this collaboration by extending it to other Consortium close to us to promote Tuscany even more in Italy and in the world ”.

“We firmly believe in the guarantee offered by the DOP and PGI certifications, which binds an agri-food product to its land of origin - underlines Alessandro Iacomoni,  president of the finocchiona Igp Consortium. We are confident that these synergies between products with activities on the European and Italian territory can bring excellent results ".
