Provacuno promotes beef exports to Morocco
Organized by the Interprofessional Beef Association ( Provacuno ), in collaboration with the Spanish Economic and Commercial Office in Casablanca, the mission brought together nine Spanish companies and more than twenty Moroccan importers and distributors in a meeting designed to strengthen trade relations and expand supply agreements.
During the day, sector presentations were held highlighting the distinctive qualities of Spanish beef — such as its tenderness, juiciness, flavor and low fat content — as well as its traceability and compliance with the European Production Model.
The program included bilateral meetings between exporters and buyers and concluded with a cocktail reception featuring Spanish beef. In addition, the Spanish representatives had the opportunity to visit various points of sale in the country to gain firsthand knowledge of Morocco's meat offerings and the potential opportunities the market presents.
Market opportunities
Spanish beef exports to Morocco have experienced significant growth in recent years. According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture, beef exports from Spain increased in both volume and value in 2025 compared to the previous year, with estimates placing total exports to Morocco at over 5,000 tons. This represents an increase of nearly 25% compared to 2024 and 100% compared to 2023. This growth is partly due to the Moroccan authorities' decision to authorize the import of fresh beef from Spain by the end of 2024.
The Moroccan market has been intensifying its purchases of beef due to various internal dynamics, including a reduction in the livestock population and a growing demand for fresh, quality imported product for domestic consumption and during periods of high demand such as Ramadan.
Prospects for bilateral cooperation
The meeting in Casablanca underscores Morocco's strategic importance as a trading partner for Spain in North Africa and reflects the interest of Spanish companies in meeting growing demand with high value-added products. Furthermore, promotional and technical cooperation initiatives are expected to contribute to consolidating lasting and sustainable trade relations between the two countries, while also serving as a benchmark for continuing and strengthening the presence of Spanish beef throughout the region.
