Regionalization will bring more security to chicken meat exports to Japan

Now, the CSI determines that restrictions on exports due to detection of the disease will be limited to municipalities where the disease may be recorded – until then, restrictions were at state level.

In 2023, exports were suspended in states that registered outbreaks of Avian Influenza in Backyard Poultry. It is worth remembering that industrial poultry farming in Brazil has never registered outbreaks of the disease.

"This achievement by the Ministry of Agriculture for Brazil is historic, and rationalizes the measures for trade in chicken meat from Brazil to Japan in possible health situations", highlights the president of ABPA, Ricardo Santin.

In 2024, Japan was the third largest importer of chicken meat from Brazil, with 443.2 thousand tons exported. This year, in the first two months alone, 55.8 thousand tons of chicken meat were shipped to the Japanese market, generating revenue of US$ 103.7 million in the period.
