Saudi livestock imports down by 11%
Livestock and animal product imports in Saudi Arabia has dropped by 10.97% in the first 5 months of the year, reaching $2.08 billion. The kingdom has imported 1.269 million heads of livestock in the first half of the year, according to official data. Usually, the numbers were supposed to be higher but limited access during Hajj ceremony has curbed the figures for June and July.
March contributed the most to the livestock import value with $448 million, followed by May ($420 million). Also, exports of livestock and animal products from the kingdom have dropped during the first 5 months of the year. By the end of May, exports totalled $600 million, with $56 million less than the same period last year.
