Spain: The meat sector consolidates its leadership in the agri-food industry
According to the latest available data, the sector reached a total turnover of €41.337 billion in 2024, representing a 7.96% growth compared to the previous year.
This figure places the meat industry as one of the country's economic drivers, already contributing 23.1% of the total food industry turnover, according to data from the MAPA.
In addition to its economic importance, the sector stands out for its capacity to generate employment. It currently provides a total of 122,942 jobs, representing 24.6% of total employment in the food and beverage industry.
In terms of production, Spain has recorded a figure close to 1.5 million tons of processed meat products in 2024, consolidating its position as one of the European Union's leading producers in this area.
