Turkey increased its red meat production in Q3

Turkey's red meat production has reached 339,379 tonnes in the third quarter of 2018, up 0.4% compared to the same period last year, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).

Turkey increased its red meat production in Q3

Compared to the previous quarter, the red meat production surged by 27.4% mainly due to the celebration of the Muslim festival of Eid-ul-Adha.

Beef production was estimated at 306,638 tonnes in the mentioned period, increasing by 30% compared to the previous quarter and by 5.6% when compared with the same quarter of last year.

Of the total, sheep meat production was estimated at 28,539 tonnes, increasing by 4.4% compared to the previous quarter but decreasing by 13.7% compared with the same quarter of last year.

Between January to September, the country's red meat production reached 859,023 tons, up from some 830,000 tons in the same period in 2017.
