Turkish aquaculture is gaining field in EU's market and beyond
Kilic Deniz, the biggest farm of sea bass and sea bream in the world, reported an excellent year in exports who reached to 160 million dollars in 2017, up with almost 13% than the year before. The total volume of production was about 65,000 tonnes, of which 70% was exported to 60 different countries.
EU, USA and Russia are the main markets accessed by the Turkish aquaculture exporter and, by now, 33% of the sea bass or sea bream consumed in Europe come from Turkey. "We offered the most delicious fish of the Mediterranean Sea to 60 countries with the label of a Turkish brand. Notably, Europe has become one of our biggest markets of activity. Every third bream and bass consumed in Europe comes from Turkey under a Turkish brand", declared Sinan K?z?ltan, the deputy CEO of the company, quoted by The Fish Site.
A new production facility established in the Dominican Republic, Kilic Deniz has now the possibility to access the US market more rapidly. "We already sent 1.2 million live fish to the United States, another important market following Europe. This is a first and a very important success for both our country and for K?l?c Deniz", explained K?z?ltan.
