Turkish poultry production stays below last year's figures
Poultry production in Turkey is increasing from month to month but is still below the figures reported in 2018. Chicken meat production (175,327 tonnes) increased by 10.7% in March compared with the previous month and decreased by 5.7% compared with the same month of the previous year. Turkey meat production (4,341 tonnes) increased by 1.2% in March compared with the previous month, and decreased by 18.9% compared with the same month of the previous year, according to Turkish Statistical Institute.
Also, official data shows that the number of slaughtered chicken (100 million) increased by 9.1% in March compared with the previous month, and decreased by 4.6% compared with the same month of the previous year. The number of slaughtered turkey (421,000) increased by 2% in March compared with the previous month and decreased by 19.4% compared with the same month of the previous year.
On the other hand, hen egg production increased by 5.2% in March compared with the previous month and increased by 2.6% compared with the same month of the previous year.
