U.S. beef, pork featured during USDA trade mission to Vietnam

While USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service led industry tours for the group and hosted meetings with Vietnamese officials and traders, USMEF demonstrated in-market promotional activities for U.S. beef and pork.

In Hanoi, USMEF hosted a U.S. beef luncheon at a Korean steakhouse in honor of six Vietnamese recipients of the 2026 U.S.-Vietnam Agriculture Hall of Fame. The event also recognized key industry partners, including an importer and retailer. The group also visited a retail promotion for U.S. pork at FujiMart, where Under Secretary Luke Lindberg participated in assembling Vietnamese Bánh Mì sandwiches with SPAM.

Promotional activities were made possible with support from the soybean checkoff, corn checkoff, National Pork Board, the Beef Checkoff Program and USDA.

Vietnam is a highly competitive import market and U.S. beef and pork face significant tariff disadvantages and non-tariff barriers. While a recently announced agreement on reciprocal trade could resolve many of these barriers, details are limited to a joint statement published in October. The statement noted, however, that Vietnam will provide preferential market access to most U.S. ag exports.
