Ukraine increased its meat exports by 37% in 2017

Ukraine's exports of meat products increased by 37% in 2017 compared to the previous year, reaching 531.3 million dollars, according to a statement made by the deputy director of the National Research Center of the Institute of Agrarian Economics Nikolai Pugachev, as reported by Segodnya.ua.

Furthermore, as Segodnya.ua reported, Mr. Pugachev said that in January 2018 Ukraine increased its meat exports by 76% compared to the same month from 2016, up to 38.7 million dollars.

The Netherlands increased its meat imports from Ukraine, ranking on the first spot among the country's top meat importers. The Dutch imported meat 2.4 times more meat products from Ukraine in 2017 compared to the previous year, the value of the meat imports reaching 80.5 million dollars. The Netherlands accounted for 15.1% of Ukraine's total meat exports.

According to Mr. Pugachev, Egypt ranked second in Ukraine's top meat importers. The country increased its meat imports by 73%, to 69.4 million dollars and accounted for a share of 13.1% from Ukraine's total meat exports.

Iraq purchased meat products worth 51.2 million dollars, which amounted to 9.6% of Ukraine's total exports. Belarus bought Ukranian meat products worth 49.6 million dollars. Azerbaijan increased meat imports from Ukraine 2.7 times in comparison with 2016 - up to 37.8 million dollars. Hong Kong also increased by 2.4 times its meat imports from Ukraine in comparison with 2016, buying Ukrainian meat worth almost 30 million dollars.

The last four spots from Ukraine's top 10 meat importers were occupied by Georgia, that imported meat worth 22.9 million dollars, Germany, with 21.7 million dollars worth of meat, Kazakhstan, with 20.8 million dollars, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with 19.2 million dollars. In UAE's case, the import of meat from Ukraine almost tripled compared with 2016.
