Ukraine ranks as the world's sixth-largest poultry producers

Ukraine is the world's sixth-largest poultry producer for the second year in a row, according to a report issued by the European Commission.
In 2018, Ukraine produced around 300,000 tonnes of poultry. In 2019, the volume was 50,000 tonnes up. In terms of poultry production, Ukraine is sixth after Brazil, the United States, the EU (with the United Kingdom), China (with Hong Kong) and Turkey. The country is one of the major suppliers of poultry in the EU market, ranking 3, behind Brazil and Thailand, with 134,262 tonnes shipped in the single market in 2019, up 8.6% compared to the previous year.
At the same time, the volume of chicken, which Ukraine imports from the EU, is larger than exported. In terms of imports, Ukraine is also in the third position, behind the Philippines and Ghana. In absolute terms, Ukraine imported 178,124 tonnes of poultry meat from the EU in 2018 and 178,619 tonnes last year.
