Ukraine's livestock numbers down in February

Ukraine's cattle herd went down by 4.5% year-over-year in February 2018 to 3.58 million head, the number of pigs decreased by 8.2% in the same period, while the sheep and goat population decreased to 1.29 million head, down by 5%, according to data released by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, as reported by UNIAN.

Furthermore, the number of cows reported in the country were down by 3.8% compared to February 2017, reaching 2.02 million head.

On the other hand, as referring to poultry, the Statistical Service said that the number in terms of population reached 199.9 million birds, with an increase by 2.5% year-over-year in February 2018.

The Ukrainian analysts explained that these numbers did not take into account the temporarily occupied ares in the utonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol and Donbas.
