Ukraine's meat and egg prices soared in February

Ukraine reported an increase in prices for eggs by 50.9% in February this year compared to the corresponding period from 2017, while meat prices rose by 26.6%, according to the latest data released by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, as reported by UNIAN.

Still. the cost for eggs and meat decreased in February compared to the previous month, by 1.6% and 0.3% respectively.

As reported by UNIAN, inflation in Ukraine in February 2018 compared to February 2017 slowed to 14% from 14.11%. The National Bank predicts a decrease in inflation in Ukraine at the end of 2018 to 8.9%, which almost corresponds to the government's forecast at 9%.

The State Statistics Service also said that meat production (live weight) in January amounted to 300,000 tons, which is 0.4% more compared to the similar period in 2017.
Ukraine's egg production also increased by 2.5%, to 1.081 billion units.

Furthermore, Ukraine's exports of meat products increased by 37% in 2017 compared to the previous year, reaching 531.3 million dollars, according to a statement made by the deputy director of the National Research Center of the Institute of Agrarian Economics Nikolai Pugachev, as reported by Segodnya.ua.
