Uruguay receives green light to export beef to Japan

The Minister of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries, Enzo Benech announced during a recent press conference that Japan has granted export authorization for 16 Uruguayan refrigerators.

Benech added that this achievement is the result of 10 years of negotiations which resumed in 2009 to recover this buyer, whom it hasn't sold since 2000.

"Japan recognizes that we are the first country free of foot and mouth disease with vaccination and recognizes our traceability," the minister added.
