The Internet is clearly changing the food industry, not only for the processors and food producers but also for the equipment market, as Hans-Joachim Boekstegers, CEO, Multivac, is detailing regarding the advance registered in the Industry 4.0 line of business.
"26% of our spare parts sales are done in the webshop. So, we have direct sales, webshop sales and something in between. This is how Industry 4.0 works: equipment condition monitoring if the packaging equipment is in good shape if we need to change the knives if there is a leak", said Multivac's CEO.
Also, the X Line technology is ready to transform the packaging equipment into self-running machines thanks to the IoT features integrated into it. "This is important for our customers because we have more and more unqualified people running our machines", added Hans-Joachim Boekstegers.
In the future, an XLine machine can increase the productivity by 10% at least, only by optimizing the parameters of the machine, as long as these data are set inside the equipment.
