Valosha: the newest retail initiative in China belongs to Belarus

Valosha, a brand founded by Olga Zelkovskaya, is selling a wide range of Belarusian products which are in demand in China: milk, cheese, meat, vegetable oil, chocolate and alcoholic drinks, informs Belarus News. The Belarusian store was opened in Chongqing, one of the biggest city in China.

The shop opened in Chongqing it is only the first, Olga Zelkovskaya planning to open a second one in Chengdu, the administrative center of Sichuan Province and to expand even further her business. Belarus and Chongqing are connected by railway and in 2016 authorities from both sides signed a twinning agreement which, in particular, envisages the development of trade, economic, and humanitarian cooperation. The trade agreement was followed by a number of contracts signed by meat producers from Belarus with the Chinese counterparts.

In the recent months, Belarusian exporters have secured more meat exports to China, ZAO Dairy and Meat being the latest company who has been cleared by the Chinese authorities to supply the market with poultry and beef. Since 2017, eight other companies from Belarus have been certified to export beef in China. Last year the former Soviet Union state exported frozen beef on Chinese market valued at 20 million USD, based on a protocol signed by Chinese companies and Belarusian enterprises.
