Prof. Dr Ir. Frédéric Leroy from the Research Group of Industrial Microbiology and Food Biotechnology at Vrije Universitet Brussels talks about food safety, the problem that food safety agencies have in communicating when there is a food scandal and how there is a lot of misleading information that confuses consumers. For all this and more, watch the online interview with Mr Leroy.
"One of the main issues in our days is that when communication about meat is brought to the larger public it is very often based on slogans, on distortions of the actual information and it is not only misleading it is also confusing even to the point when it becomes dangerous for the health," declared Leroy during the 13th edition of Belgian Meat Round Table, in Brussels.
The event took place between August 29 and August 30, 2018, in Brussels and was attended by leaders, experts, and journalists from the meat industry. This year, the main subject of discussion was "Meat in the post-truth era."
