With 25 farms and a production of about 75,000 pigs per year, Iberico Vallehermoso is one the important producers of Iberico pig in Spain. 25% of that production is directed to export in forms of pork products as the company's business model is one that is almost completely integrated.
"There are different trends in different markets. Right now, South Korea is one of our best markets but we export to other Asian markets as well. The trends are different from the ones that we see in Europe our in North America. They like to cook the meat in Asia so we sell mostly fresh or frozen pork", declared Mickael Lourenco in an interview for EuroMeatNews.

The ASF reported in wild boars in Belgium has put the Spanish pork industry in a state of alert as the country had a tough experience with the virus during the '80s and the '90's'.
"We are trying to not mix our porks with other coming from other farms. We also make sure that every truck coming from other countries is washed and clean and disinfected. You have to be sure that all the drivers coming into the farms do respect the regulation of biosecurity prevention", added the Export Manager of Iberico Vallehermoso. Done by yourself is one of the motto's in the company and, in this case, is also a biosecurity measure, according to Mr Lourenco.
