Missions to St. Petersburg, Moscow, and Mexico City brought together Brazilian authorities, importers, and companies, generating over 180 business contacts and expectations of more than US$7.1 billion in deals.
The Brazilian Association of Meat Exporting Industries (ABIEC), in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil), recently concluded two important international missions to promote Brazilian beef, held between May 27th and 28th in Mexico City, and between June 3rd and 8th in Russia. These initiatives strengthened relationships with importers, authorities, and strategic partners, expanding opportunities for Brazilian exporting companies in markets relevant to the sector.
The agenda in Russia took place between June 3rd and 8th, with activities in St. Petersburg and Moscow. The mission began during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), one of the main global meetings focused on trade, investment, and economic cooperation. Representing ABIEC, President Roberto Perosa participated in debates on food security, international trade, and strengthening economic relations between Brazil and Russia.
The program continued in Moscow with the Brazilian Beef Connect and the Brazilian Beef Dinner, initiatives promoted by ABIEC and ApexBrasil to bring Brazilian exporting companies closer to importers, distributors, authorities, and representatives of the Russian production sector.
The events brought together important authorities from both countries, including the Brazilian ambassador to Russia, Sérgio Rodrigues; the Secretary of Trade and International Relations of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa), LuÃs Rua; the Brazilian co-president of the Brazil-Russia Business Council, Pavel Cardoso; and the head of the ApexBrasil office in Moscow, Almir Américo. From the Russian side, participants included the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Maxim Reshetnikov; the director of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor), Sergey Dankvert; and the co-president of the Russia-Brazil Business Council, Andrey Guriev.
Throughout the mission, over 100 business contacts were made with companies from Russia, Kazakhstan, and Belarus. Participating companies reported an estimated US$3 million in business deals made during the event and an expectation of US$5.09 billion in business over the next 12 months, resulting from the negotiations and relationships built throughout the program.
According to ABIEC’s president, Roberto Perosa, the mission reinforces the region’s relevance to the Brazilian beef market diversification strategy. “Brazil and Russia maintain a solid commercial relationship built over decades. These initiatives strengthen trust between partners, expand institutional dialogue, and create new opportunities for Brazilian companies in strategic markets,” he emphasizes.
The mission was also followed by an important sanitary advance for Brazil. On June 10th, Russia officially recognized the country as free of foot-and-mouth disease without vaccination, reinforcing international confidence in the Brazilian agricultural defense system. This decision follows certification granted by the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOH) in 2025 and adds to the recognition recently announced by China. The measure strengthens the sanitary image of Brazilian livestock farming and opens up new commercial opportunities between the two countries.
Brazilian beef connect strengthens partnerships in Mexico
Held on May 27th and 28th in Mexico City, the mission promoted by ABIEC and ApexBrasil brought together Brazilian exporters, importers, distributors, industry representatives, and authorities from both countries in a program focused on generating business and strengthening institutional relations. ABIEC was represented by its Director of International Relations, Lhais Sparvoli, who followed the mission’s commercial and institutional agenda.
The agenda included business rounds, institutional meetings, a networking lunch bringing together Brazilian exporters, importers, authorities and business partners, as well as a technical visit to the Lunvel Group, a major company in the sector in the Mexican market. Participants included the Brazilian Ambassador to Mexico, Nedilson Ricardo Jorge; the Brazilian Agricultural Attaché in the country, Luna Lisboa Alves; the National President of the Mexico-Brazil Chamber of Commerce (CAMEBRA), Miguel Ruiz; the representative of the Mexican Meat Council (Comecarne), Adriana Ballesteros, as well as representatives from the Mexican private sector and local importing companies. The activities were carried out with the support of the Brazilian Embassy in Mexico, CAMEBRA, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, through the Brazilian Agricultural Attaché in the country.
During the event, 82 business contacts were made with companies from Mexico and the United States. Participating companies estimated US$1.98 million in business deals made during the event and expect US$2.04 billion in business over the next 12 months.
These missions are part of the Brazilian Beef project, developed by ABIEC in partnership with ApexBrasil, with the goal of strengthening the image of Brazilian beef, expanding its presence in international markets, and generating new opportunities for the entire production chain.
Combined, the two initiatives brought together 20 companies associated with ABIEC, promoted more than 180 international business contacts, and generated an expected business volume exceeding US$7.1 billion for the next 12 months, reinforcing the importance of trade promotion and institutional relationships for expanding the presence of Brazilian beef in international markets.
