Friboi innovates with express delivery and expands its portfolio of solutions for customers
Expansion to other capitals is already on the company's radar and should occur later this year.
Friboi, owned by JBS, the leading beef company in Brazil, has just launched "Express Delivery", a first-of-its-kind initiative in the meat industry that delivers fresh meat to customers on the same day, within hours. This innovation has already achieved the fastest delivery time since its inception: approximately two hours between ordering and arrival.
Restaurants, butchers, and retailers-including your local grocery store-now have the ability to place orders online or from brand vendors and receive their goods in record time, thanks to a combination of cutting-edge technology and operational efficiency.
To ensure fast delivery, Friboi applied logistical intelligence that goes far beyond simply deploying more trucks for its operations. Routing software calculates the best route in real time, taking into account the location of the company's 15 Distribution Centers and the delivery destination. The result is an operation capable of surprising even customers accustomed to tight deadlines.
In addition to agility, the model brings efficiency gains. By optimizing routes, the same fleet, with approximately 300 trucks in São Paulo and 120 vehicles in Rio de Janeiro, can complete more than one trip with multiple deliveries on the same day. In practice, this means lower fuel consumption per ton transported and, potentially, a reduction in the number of trucks on the road, as vehicles can make more than one trip per day-an important step toward more efficient operations.
"Fast delivery has gone from being a differentiator to an expectation of the modern customer. What sets Friboi apart is our ability to apply this concept to a sector with complex logistical challenges. For more than seven decades, we have constantly evolved our logistics solutions that combine tradition and innovation, always in tune with the new demands for agility and efficiency in the market", explains Gilmar Schumacher, Logistics Director at JBS.
Before the new feature, the brand's logistics model was already agile: Friboi deliveries typically occurred the next day at the latest in these regions. Now, the new service allows products to leave the Distribution Center and reach the customer on the same day. In São Paulo, for example, approximately 2,000 deliveries were made using this model in the first six months of operation, moving more than 500 tons of protein, generating revenue exceeding R$16 million for the brand. In Rio, approximately 250 such deliveries have already been made in three months.
For Henrique Reis, owner of the Essência Gaúcha restaurant , which has locations in Granja Viana, Portal Morumbi, and Taboão da Serra, all in São Paulo , the new feature made a difference. "Friboi nailed it with 'Express Delivery'. We gained convenience and speed, especially with last-minute orders. Same-day delivery-a truly unique feature in the market, which encourages repeat purchases", he says.
Expansion to other capital cities is already on the company's radar and is expected to occur later this year, with progressive implementation in other Friboi Distribution Centers. The project also connects to the Friboi+ platform, offering a complete experience, from cut selection to final delivery, with quality and speed.
