Brazilian poultry back on the Filipino market

The Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA) announced the total lifting of the embargo imposed by the Philippine health authorities on chicken meat from Brazil. "Brazil provided all the clarifications and we demonstrated the reliability of the Brazilian product, and that barrier without scientific-technical basis, without any clarification and demonstrations, is not the basis for an embargo", said in a note the president of the entity, Ricardo Santin.
The suspension of sales occurred in the second half of August, after the alleged detection of traces of covid-19 on the packaging of a product, in a Chinese municipality.
"With the total removal of restrictions, ABPA expects that the level of sales to the Philippine market will return to levels equivalent to that registered before the suspension," said the entity in a note. The Philippines are among the 12 main importers, with about 2% of the total shipped by Brazil in the first half of this year (43.8 thousand tons).
