China is looking to increase pork imports from Spain
A Chinese delegation headed by Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Kangzhen Yu, has visited Spain to verify the health system of the Spanish pig sector and its production model. The guests were welcomed by their officials from the Spanish government and representatives of INTERPORC, as China shows an interest in continuing to intensify trade relations in pig products, which they have maintained for twelve years, when Spain started exporting to the Asian country, informs Carnica magazine.
By now, INTERPORC has opened its own office in Beijing and is currently involved in different activities in the Asian country - presence in the most important food fairs in the country, meetings with importers, conferences, missions with the Chinese press etc - to promote Spanish pork and pork products in this market.
Last year, China was the second foreign market for processed and processed pork in Spain, with 332,160 tonnes and €465.8 million, accounting for 15% of total Spanish pig exports. Also, in the first seven months of 2019, Spanish pig exports to China have increased by 54% compared to the same period of 2018, with a total of 306,645 tonnes, which has meant a turnover of more than €524 million.
