Crimea reports an ASF outbreak

Russia's agricultural watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor has recently reported outbreaks of African swine fever (ASF) in the Republic of Crimea, as well as avian influenza (AI) in the Kostroma region.

Crimea reports an ASF outbreak

The latest lab tests indicated the presence of ASF in meat samples taken from the corpse of a wild boar found 5 km southeast of the Stary Krym town of the Kirovsky district of the Republic of Crimea, Rosselkhoznadzor reported.

Rosselkhoznadzor further announced that it will undertake measures to combat ASF such as the introduction of a quarantine zone, restrictions on movement and a number of other preventative efforts.

In the meantime, the authorities from Crimea and the Kostroma region work under the control of the territorial departments of Rosselkhoznadzor.
