Cyprus produces 90% of its pork

The Minister of Agriculture Costas Kadis from Cyprus declared recently that according to the data from the Department of Agriculture there are 65 pig farms in the country that cover over 90% of the domestic demand for pork, as reported by Cyprus Mail.

Cyprus produces 90% of its pork

The Cyprus official said that the Ministry's priority is to strenghten and support the pig sector.

Mr. Kadis said further that pork is the most popular meat among Cypriot consumers.

Mr. Kadis also added that there are many challenges for the local pig industry and that the Ministry of Agriculture is working to help the sector meat those challenges and improve the competitiveness in the agricultural sector.

The Minister spoke during the 2nd Scientific Conference on Pig farming in Limassol that was organized by the associations and the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
