Danish Crown: Ready for an offensive at Gulfood
Long before oil and wealth got Dubai and the United Arab Emirates on everyone's lips, Dubai was the Middle East's center for trade, among other things, gold and spices. Today, virtually everything is traded in the desert state, and it has also succeeded in developing Dubai's food fair into the world's largest.
"We are always looking for new customers, and we should probably get some of them in the coming days. We have the entire palette with us. In this area of the world, it is the poultry trade that opens doors, but we also sell beef and even pork. Even though we are in a Muslim country, many customers come from both Africa and Asia. At the same time, Gulfood is also the place where we get to keep in touch with many of our regular customers, whom we may not visit very often, so we will certainly be busy," says Jess Nielsen, head of ESS-FOOD's office in Dubai.
Over 100,000 professionals from the Middle East, Asia and Africa have announced their arrival in advance. The six employees assigned to the office in Dubai will all be present at Gulfood in the Dubai World Trade Center from 20 to 24 February. In addition, they get help from colleagues from ESS-FOOD's office in Copenhagen, among other places, because the fair is incredibly well attended.
ESS-FOOD is part of the Danish pavilion, where Danish Industry gathers most of the Danish companies that participate at Gulfood. This keeps costs down and at the same time makes it easier for customers to find ESS-FOOD among the more than 5,000 participating companies at Gulfood.
"Danish food products have a fantastic reputation around the world, so even though we stand almost side by side with several of our competitors, we gain far more by being at the Danish joint stand. It actually often happens that a colleague from a company that sells other foods than us opens the door to new customers, and of course we do the same when it makes sense," says Jess Nielsen.
The Danish Crown group is also present with a single seller of canned goods, and Sokolów has their stand at the Polish pavilion.
