INTERPORC is working with GLOBALG.A.P. in order to reinforce the IAWS certification

The Spanish Inter-professional Agri-Food Organization for White Pork (INTERPORC) is working together with the international organization GLOBALG.A.P. in the definition of an integrity system for the IAWS certification (INTERPORC Animal Welfare Spain). The aim is to strengthen the rigor, trust and credibility of the seal to consumers, the operators that voluntarily get certified and the certification bodies that participate in its control.

INTERPORC is working with GLOBALG.A.P. in order to reinforce the IAWS certification

INTERPORC is a member of GLOBALG.A.P. since 2020, which has allowed the opportunity to develop an integrity program which will continue to expand the transparency of the pork sector, as well as increasing the scope and benefits of the IAWS Animal Welfare and Biosecurity Technical Regulation.

Alberto Herranz, director of INTERPORC, highlights that the integrity control system will evaluate the performance of all certification bodies approved by IAWS. “In this way, control is reinforced to ensure that all certification bodies carry out their audits in accordance with the IAWS guidelines and procedures, verifying that they are applied to all operators in a consistent manner and with the same quality criteria and standards.”

Thus, the IAWS Integrity System will make it possible to establish a continuous process that guarantees quality and improves the transparency of all processes and, therefore, of the entire Spanish white pork sector.

In addition, thanks to the database that will be created with the companies in the program, they will have greater commercial visibility and a greater image of transparency among consumers.
