Iran's red meat production down by 11% during summer

Iran has reported a decline in its red meat production by 11% during the second quarter of current Iranian calendar year, March 21-September 22), reaching 99,000 tons.

Iran's red meat production down by 11% during summer

Beef and veal accounted for the largest share of the country's red meat production, 52%, with a figure of 223,000 tons. Lamb and mutton accounted for 37.6%, reaching 162,000 tons, while goat meat rechead 34,000 and accounted for 7.8% out of the country's total red meat production. Meanwhile, meat from other livestock reported 11,000 tons and accounted for 2.65% out of the total.

In the past Iranian calendar year, which ended on March 20, 2018, Iran produced 429,000 tons of red meat, which was 4% lower than the figure reported a year before, according to local media citing the latest data published by the Statistical Center of Iran (SCI).
