Multiple kinds of beef recall in Canada on E.coli alert
Two more ground beef recalls are in effect in Canada as the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) discovered that the meat was contaminated with E.coli O157:H7.
The first notice was made public on March 18 for ground beef from Good Butcher and packaged for meal-kit provider GoodFood but now the lab test shows that there are multiple brands distributed by three companies affected by the contamination.
No illnesses have been reported yet, as CFIA confirmed, but the consumers are advised to check their refrigerators and freezers for any of the recalled products that include products made from ground beef from Good Butcher.
The agency’s recall notice on the GoodFood products said “additional products could be recalled if the CFIA finds that they include the ground beef from Good Boucher.”, as Food Safety News informs.
The recall is targeting products like Viandes Lauzon Medium Ground Beef, Triple-A lean Ground Beef, Dube Loiselle Maison Ground Beef and Les Viandes Forget Beef Trimmings.
CFIA warns that food contaminated with E. coli O157:H7 may not look or smell spoiled but can still cause illness. Symptoms can include nausea, vomiting, mild to severe abdominal cramps and watery to bloody diarrhoea.
