Namibia sold 30% more cattle in 2017

The Meat Board of Namibia has recently announced that the country reported an increase of 30% in cattle sales in 2017 compared to the previous year, reaching a number of 421,000 cattle from 293,000 cattle in 2016.

Namibia sold 30% more cattle in 2017

 

The Meat Board of Namibia says that a total of 313,000 cattle, supported by a 34% price increase since 2016 have been exported to South African feedlots, while 172,000 cattle have been slaughtered at local abattoirs. The average B2-cattle meat prices at export abattoirs increased with 16% in 2017.

On the other hand, Namibia's total sheep marketing increased by 2% in 2017, sheep sales reaching a number of 394,000 heads while 310,000 were slaughtered locally. The average A2 sheep carcass price increased with 16% in 2017.
