Philippine audit could open the market for Uruguayan meat
Uruguay is highly valued as a supplier of meat, by-products, dairy products, grains, and, in contrast, the Philippines is very well positioned as a supplier of fish products such as tuna.
Uruguay is awaiting an audit of its meat chain by the Philippines and this meeting was a good opportunity for both Secretaries of State to discuss the matter in depth and the next steps they will take in this regard. This technical visit is an important step to continue the process of enabling Uruguay as an exporter of beef, sheep meat and by-products to the Philippine market.
Both Minister Mattos and his Philippine counterpart welcomed the fact that this audit will take place soon and confirmed that, if it turns out positive for Uruguay, the country will be authorized to export these products during the last quarter of the year.
